Why is this important?
Grandparents living in a household is becoming an increasingly common family structure. Many families choose to live together to provide emotional and financial support to one another. For instance, grandparents who may not have the resources to live alone can provide childcare for their grandchildren while the parents work. This arrangement can also help to create a stronger bond across generations and promote a sense of belonging and family unity. Intergenerational living can be beneficial for both grandparents and grandchildren. Grandparents may experience increased social support, a sense of purpose in life, and opportunities to share their life experiences and wisdom with the younger generation. Meanwhile, grandchildren may benefit from regular interaction with older individuals, who can provide guidance and stability in a rapidly changing world.
